 This course is designed to equip facilitators with the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitude to develop effective lesson plans in the CBET context. Lesson plans are predominantly apart of any facilitators toolbox and are developed to guide entire session so that every key part of the teaching session is appropriately planned, prepared, and implemented to achieve the learning outcome(s). Some Components of this course involves participants accessing resources/support to address employability skills and integrating them in vocational training delivery, amalgamate occupational standards in CBET lesson plans to plan and organize learning in the workplace.


At the end of this course, you should be able to:

  1. Determine through proper channels the required methods for accessing resources and support for addressing employability skills.
  2. Integrate occupational standards to prepare lesson plans for the delivery of training within the TVET System.
  3. Integrate employability and foundation skills in vocational training for effective delivery and assessment.
  4. Develop work-based learning pathways to address contractual requirements and responsibilities for learning at work.
  5. Establish effective work environment for learning.
  6. Maintain and develop the learning-facilitation relationship to structure learning activities to support and reinforce new learning, build on strengths, and identify areas for further development.

The Global Services Sector (GSS) Supervisory Management programme is designed to help persons developed the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to function effectively and efficiently in a supervisory role within the GSS business environment. The programme was developed in an effort to exploit the skill gap within the industry. 

The programme will equip individuals with strategies for effective supervision, and the skills and knowledge required to effectively manage workgroups in a GSS business environment. The programme will also provide participants with the leadership tools and techniques for developing a work team and key management skills of problem-solving, performance analysis, conflict management and effective communication. Training will be conducted on-the-job, where eighty percent (80%) of training will cover the industry aspect, while the remaining twenty percent (20%) will be done in a face-to-face modality which is typically done in a training room setting or online. The programme requires completion of One Thousand and Fifty-Eight (1058) (The hours are too long for a one-year programme) hours and over a One Hundred and Fifty-One (151) weeks period. The programme will be delivered through an Apprenticeship Model in a seventy (70) percent on the job and thirty (30) percent classroom/online instruction. At the end of the programme, graduates will receive the customized certificate in GSS Supervisory Management and will be qualified to work as Supervisor/Team Leader/Manager, Trainer and Coach

This course introduces the learners to using competency base methodologies in instructional delivery. The learners are exposed to from of intelligence, learning styles and other learning theories. The learners will be encouraged to develop CBET lesson plans in accordance with the competency standards developed by the National Council on Technical Vocational Education and Training (NCTVET).

The Government of Jamaica and other Caribbean countries have been pushing technical and vocational education and training (TVET) as the pillar upon which growth in the respective economies can be achieved. There is a significant need for trained and certified assessors and instructors to carry out competency-based assessment. This course enables participants to develop the necessary expertise to assess candidates to the competency standards of the NVQ-J/CVQ Level 4 in Assessment. Participants will also gain a thorough understanding of best practices used to assess candidates who will demonstrate their readiness for the workplace, thus leading to the improvement of the overall performance and the basis for a sustainable development in the Caribbean.

The qualification covers competencies by providing services in NVQ-J Data Operations Level 2 such as being able to understand and carry out components of small business management, data operations, multimedia, web development, networking and information technology while working in a safe and hygienic manner.

This qualification reflects the roles of training developers and instructional designers who are responsible for analyzing training needs and designing training solutions and products to meet workplace capability requirements, and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs. They may have a role in providing guidance and advice to trainers and assessors, promoting innovative practices, e.g. e-learning, and in researching and incorporating best practice in training and assessment into training programs and products.

This program will enhance your ability to analyze training needs and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs. You'll build your instructional design expertise in developing training solutions and products to meet workplace requirements while including new learning technologies in delivery and assessment.
